Sazanka is the first and so far only teppanyaki restaurant in Europe to be awarded a Michelin star.
Teppanyaki literally means ‘to grill on a hot plate’, and that is exactly what you’ll experience at Sazanka. The chefs will prepare the most delicious fish, meat and vegetarian dishes on a hot iron griddle at your table: à la minute cooking with Japanese precision. Add to this the use of top quality ingredients, an extensive choice of sakes and wines and the characteristic Japanese interior and you are guaranteed to feel the truly authentic Japanese hospitality at its very best. The social
setup of the restaurant – sharing tables – makes it the ideal setting for celebratory dinners. You will find Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka on the ground floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam.
Find out how to get to the Okura via the route description. We recommend to make your reservations well in advance. Reserve your table online or via our English and Dutch speaking reservations team at +31 20 6787 450.
What to expect at Sazanka
The teppanyaki griddles are large enough for seven to ten guests. This means that when making a reservations for e.g. two persons, you will be seated with other guests at a table. Awkward? Not at all, since we know from experience that this social setting can be the beginning of inspiring networks and great friendships. In addition, each party will set its own pace, so you might be ready for desserts while your neighbours are still enjoying their starters.
Eating with chopsticks?
We are aware that not everyone is accustomed to eating with chopsticks. If you are not convinced of your own chopstick techniques, you can read about the basic principles or just ask our staff for ‘beginnner chopsticks’ or cutlery. Eventhough all of Sazanka’s chefs are Japanese and will speak English, there are plenty of Dutch and English speaking team members around to assist you. Feel free to ask any explanation you need!
Looking for a totally different Japanese dining experience? Then try out the adjoining Yamazato Restaurant. This restaurant, also awarded one Michelin star, serves authentic Japanese cuisine based on the traditional kaiseki principles. Both Japanese restaurants are led by Executive Chef and Manager Masanori Tomikawa.
Sazanka offers an extensive menu that changes with the seasons, including both set menus and à la carte options. Whether your preference is for meat, fish or vegetarian, the teppan-chef will take your personal wishes into account on the spot.
